To recognise the centenary of Canty Bay the Evans Trust are launching Project 100.
Plans have been submitted to significantly refurbish and improve the accommodation within the Scout Cottages and Gannet extension.
The aim of the refurbishment is to futureproof this part of Canty Bay by turning it in to a multipurpose unit, particularly bearing in mind the need to provide accommodation for mixed sex groups. The refurbishment will significantly remodel the Scout dens by replacing the ladders with stairs, and by installing dormer windows on the back aspect to increase the sleeping accommodation and improve emergency exits. The shower and toilet facilities will be increased and upgraded. The dividing partitions between the four dens will be removed to provide two multipurpose rooms with sleeping accommodation above accessed by stairs.
The Gannets meeting room will be enlarged with a purpose-built commercial kitchen facility.
The present garage store will be moved to a new unit on the back lawn behind the Big House.
A Project 100 fundraising appeal has been launched with a target of £100,000.
